Biography
Born in Barcelona in 1878, Alberto Marro spent his life circling back to the city that first shaped him. Within a single whirlwind year—1914—he stitched together three early cinematic dreams: the fortune-telling mystery *La echadora de cartas*, the shadow-soaked thriller *Noche de sangre*, and the fate-driven drama *La tragedia del destino*. Writer, director, and silent-era pioneer, Marro kept crafting stories until the final reel of his own life closed in 1956, again in Barcelona, the backdrop to both his opening scene and his last.
