Berlin, 1915: while Europe’s attention was fixed on the Western Front, twenty-year-old Ann Mayring stepped in front of the cameras for Richard Oswald’s adventure romp The Crown Prince’s Double, becoming one of the first women to register on the flickering roll call of German cinema.
