Biography
Litchfield, Connecticut greeted Bannister Merwin in 1873, and from that quiet New England cradle he sprinted toward the nascent flicker of cinema. Behind the camera he orchestrated mischief in A Rogue in Love (1916), revived the sprinting mystery of The Silver Greyhound (1919), and later unpacked judicial intrigue in The Magistrate (1921). Along the way he partnered in life and art with Anne Merwin. His final reel closed on 22 February 1922 in London, leaving the projector still humming between continents.
