Biography
A Manhattan native born September 24, 1865, Barry O’Neil stepped behind the camera early in the silent era, guiding 1914’s The Lion and the Mouse and The Wolf, then 1916’s Life’s Whirlpool from director’s chair to producer’s desk. Off-set he shared his life with actress Nellie Walters; on-set he shaped stories that flickered across nickelodeon screens until his own final curtain fell in New York City on March 23, 1918.
