Biography
Allegheny, Pennsylvania, greeted the arrival of Bartley Campbell on 12 August 1843, and from that moment the town had a storyteller in its midst. Pen in hand, he spun the dramas that leapt to the screen as The Galley Slave (1915), My Partner (1916), and, posthumously, The Crucible of Life (1918). Fate closed his final act on 30 July 1888, in Middletown, New York, but the reels still spin his words.
