Biography
Born in Elyria, Ohio, on 7 June 1857, C.B. Hoadley grew up to trade small-town quiet for the flicker of silent-era screens. Between 1915 and 1921 he fed three sizzling melodramas—Wildfire, Unto Those Who Sin, and A Shocking Night—to cameras hungry for tension and twist. A little more than six months after the last title hit theaters, Hoadley’s own story closed on 18 February 1922 in Los Angeles, the city that had become his creative playground.
