Biography
In 1914, Pittsburgh preacher-turned-producer Charles Taze Russell stepped off the pulpit and onto the screen, compressing his sweeping biblical chronology into the wordless, color-tinted epic The Photo-Drama of Creation. Weeks later he repeated the feat on a smaller canvas, scripting Mutual Weekly, No. 57, a one-reel bulletin that carried his cosmic vision to neighborhood nickelodeons.
