Biography
Chicago greeted Dot Farley first on 6 February 1881, and before the city’s skyline had finished rising she was already stealing scenes—first behind a typewriter, then beneath the klieg lights. Between 1924 and 1926 she slipped effortlessly from the farmstead heartbreak of So Big to the scandal-ridden streets of The Red Kimono and the emerald-tinted dreams of The Little Irish Girl, turning supporting roles into secret handshakes with audiences. Ninety years of stories later, South Pasadena quietly claimed her on 2 May 1971, closing the book on a woman who had spent half a century insisting every frame carry her unmistakable spark.
