Biography
A heartbeat of ink and imagination, Ede Szigligeti entered the world on 8 March 1814 in the tiny village of Váradolaszi, Hungary. Over the next six decades he would refill his quill again and again, gifting the stage such evergreen romps as Liliomfi (1915), the deserting-soldier farce A szökött katona (1915), and the puszta adventure A csikós (1917). Budapest finally closed his manuscript on 19 January 1878, but the curtain he raised on Hungarian theatre still refuses to fall.
