Biography
Born under the autumn skies of Putnok on 14 October 1844, Ede Tóth grew into a storyteller whose pen breathed life into Hungarian villages. His narratives reached the silver screen three times—first in 1915 with *The Undesirable*, then twice as *A Falu rossza*, in 1917 and again in 1938—each adaptation proving that his words refused to stay buried. Fate, however, closed the book early: he died in Budapest on 26 February 1876, barely past thirty, yet leaving a legacy that cinema would revisit for decades.
