Biography
Richmond, Virginia, greeted Edward Peple on 10 August 1867, and from that river-city cradle he spun tales that later flickered across nickelodeon screens. His pen gave life to Broadway’s brassy *Richard the Brazen* in 1917, nursed the silver-screen antics of *The Spitfire* three years earlier, and still echoed in 1931 when talkie audiences met *The Beloved Bachelor*. The final curtain fell on Peple in Manhattan on 28 July 1924, leaving inked ghosts to keep speaking his lines.
