Biography
Cresco, Iowa greeted the world to Edwin Barbour on 2 July 1857; by the next decade he had traded prairie quiet for greasepaint and ink. Between 1913 and 1924 his name flickered across marquees three times—first as the dream-weaving author of *The Fiancee and the Fairy*, then as the face of winter’s chill in *Northern Lights*, and finally as the pulse of *The Fire Patrol*. The footlights dimmed forever on 15 September 1914 when Barbour’s final curtain fell in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
