Biography
Enrico Guazzoni entered the world on 18 September 1876 amid the crumbling marble and ringing church bells of Rome, Lazio. Behind the camera he became a silent-era architect, drafting epics like the 1913 heart-tugger *Il lettino vuoto* and, sixteen years later, the biblical sweep of *Miryam*. Talkies never rattled him: in 1938 he shaped the melodrama *Il suo destino* with the same steady hand. Writer, director, Roman to the core, he took his final bow in his native city on 24 September 1949, leaving behind a filmography etched in light.
