Biography
On 19 September 1863, Warren, Pennsylvania, welcomed Ernest Lacy into the world. A quarter-century later he would sign his name to the novel that Hollywood would one day bend into the 1914 silent feature The Ragged Earl. Between those two mileposts he courted and married Hattie C. Dugan, shared quiet hours at the writing desk, and watched his characters leap from page to silver screen. The final curtain fell on 17 June 1916, when Lacy’s story ended in Philadelphia, the same city whose theaters had once projected his imaginings onto flickering white canvases.
