Biography
On 28 August 1876, Milan’s restless streets delivered Eugenio Perego into the world. Within two decades he had swapped the Lombard fog for the flicker of early film, scripting and steering stories that raced through the newborn century: the drifting heroine of *La vagabonda* (1918), the bewildered royal of *Il principe idiota* (1920), and the city that sings in *Napule… e niente cchiù* (1928). Rome finally claimed him on 26 February 1944, but the reels he set spinning still turn, light-struck and defiantly alive.
