Biography
Fernand Beissier stepped in front of the camera twice, leaving two bright punctuations in early French film history. First, in 1914, he slipped into the title role of Pierrot the Prodigal, bringing a harlequin’s swagger to the silent screen. Eighteen years later he resurfaced as the swaggering hero of Le champion du régiment (1932), proving that while fashions and soundtracks had changed, his knack for commanding the frame had not.
