Biography
A June child of 1808, Francesco Dall’Ongaro first drew breath in Mansuè, then a dot on the map of the Kingdom of Italy, today part of Veneto. Words became his trade, and his story of the little Venetian baker ricocheted across the centuries, re-told on screen in 1914, again in 1939, and once more in 1963. Death closed the final chapter in Naples on 10 January 1873.
