Biography
Brooklyn welcomed Francis Worcester Doughty on 5 November 1850, and by the time the silent-film era flickered to life he was already spinning cliff-hangers for the screen. Between 1914 and 1915 he fed nickelodeon hunger with the twenty-episode thriller Zudora, the jungle-chase serial Stanley’s Search for the Hidden City, and the maritime shocker Hook and Hand. The ink dried for good on 30 October 1917 in Cresskill, New Jersey, but the reels he scripted still crackle in archives, keeping his pulse alive in grainy light.
