Biography
A Detroit dawn on 29 March 1865 delivered Frederic S. Isham to the world, and the frontier energy of post-Civil-War Michigan crackled through every sentence he would ever set to paper. Over the next five-and-a-half decades he spun stories that leapt from silent-era marquees—The Social Buccaneer in 1923, Nothing But the Truth twice, first in 1929 and again in 1941—each film a time-capsule of his narrative pulse. Off the page he shared life’s plot with Helen M. Frue, his co-author in marriage. The final curtain fell on 6 September 1922, in the electric twilight of New York City, but the reels keep turning.
