Biography
Copenhagen greeted Fritz Magnussen on 13 September 1878, and from that first breath he seemed destined to spin stories rather than merely live them. Behind the camera he orchestrated shadows and light, releasing the gilded intrigue of *Guldspindeln* in 1916, then confronting audiences with apocalyptic visions in 1918’s *Dommens dag* and the twist-laden *Skæbnesvangre vildfarelser*. Barely 41, he left the final reel unfinished when he died in Denmark on 14 April 1920, leaving the silent screen to echo his name without him.
