Biography
Mount Carmel, Texas, greeted George Scarborough’s arrival on 3 June 1875, and by the late-1910s the town’s restless son was scripting Hollywood dreams. His pen gave life to the oppressed villagers of *Under the Yoke* (1918), the mystic quest of *The Grail* (1923), and the small-town gullibility that fuels *The Boob* (1926). Between drafts he exchanged vows twice—first with Annette Westbay, later with Anne Blanche Saunders. The final curtain fell in Los Angeles on 1 November 1956, closing a story that had travelled from East-Texas cotton fields to the flickering silver screens of the world.
