Biography
A crisp Jersey-shore morning in 1864 brought Grace Livingston Furniss into the world—Bayonne, 15 March, to be exact. She grew into the kind of storyteller who could spin society romps and castle intrigue onto the silent screen: 1914’s sword-swaggering *The Pride of Jennico*, followed in rapid-fire ’15 by both the elopement yarn *Gretna Green* and the high-stepping *On with the Dance*. After seven decades of plots and premieres, her personal curtain fell in Rye, New York, on 20 April 1938.
