Biography

"Henryk Sienkiewicz, a towering figure in Polish literature, began his life's journey on 5 May 1846 in Wola Okrzejska, a village then situated within the Russian Empire, now recognized as Wola Okrzejska, Lubelskie, Poland. A masterful storyteller, he is celebrated for his profound literary contributions, including the monumental novel 'Quo Vadis,' which later found global fame through its 1951 cinematic adaptation, as well as other screen interpretations of his works such as 'Invasion 1700' (1962) and 'Na jasnym brzegu' (1921). In his personal life, he was united in marriage with Maria Babska, Maria Romanowska, and Maria Emilia Kazimiera Szetkiewicz. His distinguished career and life drew to a close on 15 November 1916 in the picturesque town of Vevey, Vaud, Switzerland."
