Biography
Born in Missouri on 11 February 1870, J. Breckenridge Ellis spent his life spinning tales that leapt from the page to the silver screen. His novels—Cinderella of the Hills (1921), Emmy of Stork’s Nest (1915) and the chilling The Shadow on the Wall (1925)—became early Hollywood fuel, carrying his name far beyond the Ozark hills where his story began. Six decades and two heartland states later, he closed his final chapter in Oklahoma on 2 April 1956.
