Biography
A Bronx boy who learned to hustle light before most people flicked on a switch, Jesse J. Goldburg arrived 21 October 1881 in Manhattan and never stopped moving. Between Broadway’s glare and the newborn hum of Hollywood backlots, he turned ink into moving pictures: Border Justice in ’24, The Drug Store Cowboy the next year, and 1926’s sun-scorched saga The Valley of Bravery. Off-set he shared a life—and a last name—with Felecia W. Kaufmann. Seventy-seven years after his first breath, the reels stopped rolling; Goldburg died 27 August 1959 in Hollywood, California, leaving behind a silent trail of title cards and the echo of hoofbeats on celluloid.
