Biography
A stage-trained New Yorker who stepped before the camera in 1910, John G. Adolfi traded greasepaint for a megaphone almost overnight. For the next dozen years he cranked out brisk potboilers for fly-by-night outfits, occasionally slipping onto the Fox lot when a project needed speed more than money. Everything changed when the talkies arrived: Adolfi clicked with the urbane George Arliss, and together they delivered the dignified hits that made both men bankable.
