Biography
Born under the blazing January sun of 1885 in Rosario, Santa Fe, José González Castillo grew into a storyteller who stitched Argentina’s contradictions onto the page. Before turning thirty he jolted national stages with Resaca (1916), a play that dragged audiences through the undertow of social hypocrisy. Three years later came Juan sin ropa (1919), stripping privilege down to its raw seams. On the last day of winter, 22 October 1937, his pen fell silent in Buenos Aires, but not before he had slipped one last surprise into print: The Law They Forgot premiered posthumously in 1938, ensuring his voice outlived its creator.
