Biography
Emerging from Chicago on January 6, 1879, Joseph Medill Patterson became a formidable architect of early American narrative. A writer whose pen captured the complexities of his era, he authored the scripts for the 1914 production Dope, the 1915 film A Little Brother of the Rich, and the 1916 drama The Fourth Estate. His life beyond the page was shared with his wives, Alice Higinbotham and Mary King.
