Biography

Kinnarumma, a scattering of wooden houses in Älvsborgs län, welcomed Lasse Ring on 11 April 1882, and from that quiet corner of Sweden he would go on to orchestrate stories that moved at the speed of flickering light. Behind the camera he steered thrills and patriotism alike: in 1914 he fired national pride with *För fäderneslandet*, then cranked the tempo up a decade later when he let *När millionerna rullar…* and *Björn Mörk* loose on 1924 screens. Ring wrote, directed, shaped the early grammar of Swedish cinema, and when the final reel turned on 1 August 1956, his legacy was already looping in perpetual motion through projectors yet to come.
