Biography

Fairmount, Indiana, greeted Leroy Scott on 11 May 1875, and from that Midwestern starting line he sprinted into a life of ink, greasepaint, and restless invention. Between acting gigs he sharpened stories that crackled across the silent screen: Mary Regan (1919) let audiences taste vaudeville grit; Partners of the Night (1920) pulled them into shadowy alleys; and A Lady of Chance (1928) sent Norma Talmadge gambling with fate. Off-camera he shared the journey with Miriam Finn, his wife and most trusted critic. The final curtain fell on 21 July 1929 in the quiet town of Merrill, New York, but the reels he inspired keep spinning.
