Biography
Oswego, New York, greeted Lottie Blair Parker in 1854, and from that lakeside town she set sail for a life stitched from words and footlights. Between acting turns she spun melodramas that refused to fade: Under Southern Skies first lit up screens in 1915, and her barn-stormer Way Down East became a silent tempest in 1920, then roared again with sound in 1935. Offstage she shared her name—and a string of productions—with husband Harry Doel Parker, director and perennial manager. The curtain fell for her on 5 January 1937 in Great Neck, Long Island, but the stories she planted still ride the wind.
