Biography
Philadelphia greeted Marie Hubert on 19 August 1858, and from that day forward she carried the city’s restless spark. She grew into a storyteller who traded footlights for film reels, directing and scripting the 1915 fantasy The Fairy and the Waif, a silent-era tale that still flickers in cinema histories. Off-set she shared her life with theatrical impresario Gustave Frohman, their marriage a private duet played against the public roar of rising curtain calls. On 4 July 1939, Bronxville, New York became the final stop on her journey, closing the book on a woman who helped turn American daydreams into moving pictures.
