Biography
Born the day after summer’s curtain fell in 1872, Mary H. O’Connor first drew breath in St. Paul, Minnesota. Between the Mississippi’s fog and the city’s gas-lamp glow, she sharpened both pen and presence, slipping from page to stage and back again. Audiences met her face in 1915’s *The Lure of the Mask*, felt her pulse again that same year in *A Yankee from the West*, and, two years later, watched her wrestle conscience and cosmos in *Souls Triumphant*. Writer, actress, twin alchemist of ink and emotion, she stayed in motion until September 3, 1959, when Los Angeles took her final bow.
