Biography
A midsummer baby, Paul McAllister arrived in Brooklyn on 30 June 1875 and soon traded city sidewalks for greasepaint and footlights. By the roaring ’20s he had become Hollywood’s go-to silver-fox authority—stoic yet velvet-voiced—in spectacles such as Beau Geste, The Winning of Barbara Worth, and the biblical deluge epic Noah’s Ark. Between takes he sharpened quills, quietly shaping stories behind the camera while Margaret McKinney, his wife and steadfast partner, kept the home fires bright. After the final curtain he settled by the Pacific, dying in Santa Monica on 8 July 1955, leaving behind flickering images that still march across the screen like sand-steeped legionnaires.
