Biography
Born in Denmark on the last day of November 1883, Paul Sarauw grew up to spin stories that leapt from the page to the screen. Audiences first tasted his narrative flair with 1933’s Nyhavn 17, later felt the open-air charm of Ved Kongelunden… in 1953, and caught the sunrise of hope in I dag begynder livet back in 1939. When the final curtain fell on 24 April 1959, Denmark closed the book on a native son who had given its cinema its lines to remember.
