Biography

A Breton breeze blew through Plomelin on 1 June 1874, carrying the first cry of Pierre Souvestre—an inventive mind who would grow up to shadow the world with the master-criminal Fantômas. From Finistère’s edge he journeyed to Paris, where ink, plot twists and tireless imagination let him breathe life into the gentleman-masked menace that haunted boulevards, railway tunnels and, long after his own heartbeat stopped on 26 February 1914, cinema screens from 1964 onward.
