Biography

October 30, 1751, Dublin: a restless boy arrives who will trade the Liffey’s murmur for London’s footlights. By the time the candles were snuffed on July 7, 1816, in a quiet London house, Richard B. Sheridan had spun comedies sharp enough to cut society’s mask—most famously The School for Scandal, committed to celluloid in 1914—while his name later flickered across screens again in Bedlam (1946) and Beryl Reid (1977).
