Biography
Roy Norton entered the world in 1869, ink already humming in his veins. Over the next seven decades he forged stories that leapt from page to screen, most famously the mining-saga The Plunderer—first filmed in 1915, then given a second cinematic life in 1924. Two years before that encore he supplied the tale for Straight from the Shoulder, another adventure that kept nickelodeon seats warm. When the final curtain fell in 1942, Norton left behind a compact shelf of novels and the flickering shadows they inspired.
