Biography
Born under the gambling-town stars of Virginia City on 2 June 1877, Theodosia Harris grew up where saloon pianos drowned out church bells, a soundtrack that may explain why her imagination leaned toward hypnotists, curses, and reincarnated love. In the single year 1916 she flooded nickelodeon screens with three scenarios—The Soul’s Cycle, The Hidden Law, and The Leopard’s Bride—each a one-reel whirlwind of séances, secret clauses, and jungle altars that kept audiences gasping between the vaudeville acts. Off-screen she traded the Comstock dust for the arms of stage veteran James Henry Knowles; together they followed theater routes southward. The journey ended in Bexar County, Texas, where she closed her final chapter on 20 November 1938, leaving behind a trio of fever-dream films that still flicker in archives like messages from a past life.
