Biography
Virginia City, Nevada, thundered with silver-mine blasts the day Thomas N. Heffron arrived—13 June 1872. From that rowdy frontier cradle he traded pickaxes for pens and storyboards, growing into a yarn-spinner who steered silent-era cameras. Between 1914 and 1919 he marshaled casts through the moral maze of *The Scales of Justice*, the Scottish elopement charm of *Gretna Green*, and the bare-knuckle grit of *A Man’s Fight*. Off-set he shared his life with a woman who, in the era’s custom, stepped into the spotlight only as Mrs. Thomas N. Heffron. Fifty-one springs after his last reel rolled, the director drew his final curtain in San Francisco on 24 May 1951.
