Biography
Wilbert Melville entered the world on 6 November 1892 and, before the silent era had fully found its voice, was already conjuring flickering adventures like A Perilous Ride (1913). Two years later he spirited audiences into the exotic swirl of Saved from the Harem, followed by the royal intrigue of The Beggar King (1916). After steering stories from behind the camera, he stepped away from the klieg lights and spent his final decades far from Hollywood bustle, dying quietly on 15 November 1965 in Cape May, New Jersey.
