Biography
Alexander Butler stepped behind the camera when British silent film was still finding its voice, steering three now-era-defining releases: the backstage drama *The Life of a London Actress* in 1919, followed a year later by the biblical morality tale *David and Jonathan*, and wrapping the streak in 1921 with the family-sacrifice story *For Her Father's Sake*.
