Biography
Naples, 1888: a restless boy slips out of the narrow alleys and onto silent-film sets, trading the scent of espresso for nitrate and limelight. Within six years he is Du Barry’s enigmatic Louis XV (1914), then twice an orphan’s tormented guardian in Le due orfanelle (1918), and finally the storm-tossed lover of L’ira (1918). When the cameras stop, Edoardo Bencivenga vanishes—leaving only three flickering portraits and the echo of Neaplio laughter between frames.
