Biography
Turin served as both the cradle and the final resting place for Luigi Maggi, a titan of early Italian cinema born on December 21, 1867. Balancing roles behind the lens and in front of the camera, Maggi became a cornerstone of the industry, most notably orchestrating the 1908 spectacle The Last Days of Pompeii. His filmography, spanning decades of artistic evolution, includes the 1921 feature I conquistatori and the 1925 production La bambola vivente. After a lifetime dedicated to the moving image, he took his final bow in his native Turin on August 22, 1946.
