Biography
A crisp Philadelphia winter welcomed T. Hayes Hunter on 1 December 1884, and from that first breath he seemed destined to herd light and shadow for the silver screen. Decades later he would helm the brooding chiller The Ghoul (1933), guide audiences through the rustic drama of The Light in the Clearing (1921), and expose frayed emotions in Damaged Hearts (1924). Off-set he shared his life with actress Millicent Evans. Hunter’s final curtain fell in wartime London on 14 April 1944, leaving behind a compact but unmistakable mark on early cinema.
