Cult Review
Senior Film Conservator

Honestly, only if you are the type of person who digs through bargain bins of old silent films and gets excited by scratches on the film reel. If you need a plot that makes sense or actors who don't look like they are acting in a different play than everyone else, skip it.
It’s definitely for the crowd that loves Wolves of Kultur or maybe the weirder bits of The Unwanted. If you hate slow, ponderous pacing, you will probably be checking your watch every five minutes.
Watching this felt like digging up a time capsule that wasn't supposed to be opened. Arcady Boytler has this stare that just cuts through the frame, and he holds it for way too long. It’s kind of funny, honestly. It reminds me of the intensity you find in I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang, but way more unhinged.
The camera work is jittery and feels like the operator was having a bad day. Or maybe they were just experimenting. There’s a scene where Anita Ruanova is just sitting there, and the background looks like a painted stage set that’s about to tip over. It’s charming in a really rough way. 🎥
There is this one moment where the narrative just kind of gives up. It just stops. It’s like the movie realized it didn't know where it was going and decided to take a nap. It’s a bold choice, even if it was probably a mistake.
Compared to something more polished like The Bride of Glomdal, this feels like it was put together in a shed. But that’s why I liked it. It feels alive in a way that modern, perfect digital movies never do.
Don't expect a masterpiece. Just expect to be confused and maybe a little bit intrigued. It’s not going to change your life, but it’s definitely going to stick in your brain for a couple of days. 🎞️
