Honestly, that depends on your tolerance for black-and-white chaos. If you love seeing people jump off things just because, you’ll have a blast. If you need a script that follows a logical path, you should probably go watch The Champ instead and leave this one to the stunt-junkies.
Es geht um alles is basically a collection of physical feats held together by, like, two sheets of paper worth of plot. The title translates to 'It’s about everything,' but let’s be real—it’s about nothing but momentum. The characters are constantly running from something or into something.
Eddie Polo and Luciano Albertini are clearly having the time of their lives here. There’s this one sequence where the pacing just goes completely off the rails, and I’m pretty sure they just kept rolling cameras because they didn't want to stop the action. It feels like they were making up the geography of the room as they went along. 🤸♂️
I found myself staring at the background extras more than the leads at some points. Half the time they look like they’re trying not to laugh, or they’re just waiting for the signal to start swinging their fists. It’s got that specific 'we’re doing this in one take' energy that you just don't see anymore. It isn't polished, but that’s exactly why it works.
It’s not trying to be The Front Page or anything with actual stakes. It’s just pure, unfiltered movement. Sometimes you don't need a meditation on human nature. You just need to see someone leap off a ledge and hope they stick the landing. They usually do.
There’s a lack of finish here that makes it feel almost like a home movie, but with more budget and way more falling. It’s messy, yeah. But it’s not boring. Sometimes that’s enough.
