5.4/10

A definitive 5.4/10 rating for a film that redefined the boundaries of cult cinema. Inside Information remains a cornerstone of transgressive art.
If you have a soft spot for 1930s B-movies where a dog is smarter than the entire police force, you’ll dig this. It’s not exactly The Midnight Cabaret in terms of polish, but it’s got that weirdly comforting, dusty vibe. If you hate predictable scripts or need your crime thrillers to be dark and gritty, maybe skip it. Actually, just skip it if you aren’t into dogs being the hero.
The whole plot hinges on Lloyd Wilson getting framed for theft. Honestly, watching him try to act innocent while everyone yells at him is a bit exhausting. But then Tarzan shows up. This dog doesn’t just bark at mailmen; he’s basically Sherlock Holmes with fur.
There’s this moment where Tarzan is just staring at a guy who looks perfectly normal. You can tell the movie is trying so hard to say, "Look, he's the bad guy!" It’s not subtle. It’s like watching Blind Man's Eyes where you just know the twist before the characters do. But hey, it’s a dog, so I let it slide. 🐶
The pacing is… well, it’s fast. Maybe too fast? They move from the office to the gang’s hideout with very little time spent actually, you know, investigating. It reminded me a bit of the frantic energy in Fireman, Save My Gal!, except with more bonds and fewer hoses.
I couldn't help but think about how much simpler life was when your biggest problem was a missing bond certificate. The movie doesn't try to be anything other than a quick distraction. It doesn't have the weight of Three Wise Fools, but it doesn't need to.
There’s one scene where the police are just standing around looking confused while Tarzan literally leads them to the hideout. It’s hilarious. You can almost hear the director shouting, "Just follow the dog, guys!" It’s delightfully goofy and captures that old-school charm that modern movies completely forgot how to do.
Is it a masterpiece? Hardly. But if you’re bored on a rainy Tuesday, you could do a lot worse than watching a very good boy solve a crime that the humans are too stubborn to figure out. Just don't expect it to change your life.
