Biography
October snow fell the day Agda Helin first opened her eyes in Bjärka-Säby, Östergötland—27 October 1894. Silent screens were still young when she stepped before them in Nattliga toner (1918), and nearly five decades later she confronted wartime shadows in Shame (1968) and traded barbs with Chekhov’s weary dreamers in Onkel Vanja (1967). On 10 February 1984, Stockholm’s Södermalm quieted as the curtain came down on her 89-year performance.
