Biography
Piedmont, 1876: a future chameleon of the silent era enters the world as Alberto Nepoti. Within three decades he is slipping between skins—first the jealous Moor in 1909’s Othello, then the hot-blooded don José opposite Carmen the same year. By 1921 he steps behind the camera as well, guiding the doomed foundlings of I figli di nessuno through their cliff-side tragedies. Sixty-one years after his first breath, Nepoti takes his final bow, leaving the screen flickering in 1937.
